Warriors theory Wiki

Warriors are mid-ranking cats who basically make up a Clan. Warrior is the rank after Apprentice and just before Deputy.

Tasks[]

  • Warriors are allowed to have mates and kits, so one task is for two warriors (one tom, one she-cat) to become mates, so the she-cat can move into the Nursery and give birth to kits to raise to be Clan warriors. Queens usually return to their usual warrior duties once all their kits have become apprentices, though the same queen may move back into the nursery later, expecting a new litter.
  • Hunting in hunting parties to bring back prey for themselves and the Clan to eat. A rule of the warrior code demands that a warrior hunts for the Clan and only afterward for him or herself.
  • Patrolling borders in patrols. Warriors walk along the borders with rival Clans, re-newing their own Clan's scent markings and checking that no cats (from the rival Clan or theirs) have crossed the border.
  • Mentoring apprentices to become full warriors.

Education[]

Once a warrior is experienced enough, the Clan leader will choose a kit out of a litter to become the warrior's new apprentice, once the kit is six moons old. The warrior will teach his/her apprentice how to hunt, fight, and take him/her on patrols. On the first day, a warrior will show his/her new apprentice the territory, borders, landmarks, etc. The mentor will also probably stay close to the apprentice to keep him/her safe in battles and introduce him/her to cats from rival Clans at Gatherings. Once an apprentice is old and experienced enough, the Clan leader will call a meeting to make the apprentice into a new warrior. This is a great honor. Once the apprentice becomes a warrior, the former mentor is free to take on another apprentice once another suitable kit reaches the age of six moons. However, a few apprentices have been known to leave their warrior training to become a Medicine Cat apprentice during their training (Ex: Spottedleaf, Mothwing). Deputies and leaders can also take on apprentices (Ex: When Bluestar took on Firepaw as her apprentice while she was leader, or when Brambleclaw became mentor to his first apprentice Berrypaw while he was deputy).
