We all know Ashfur's story (well those of us who have read the PO3 and NP series). He was in love with Squirrelflight but she chose Brambleclaw in the end. He was mostly known for that and hardly anything else. But the main question is, Was it Love or Just Complete Madness?
I believe that it really was love that drove him to doing what he did. Jealousy overcame him and Yellowfang was right. His only fault was that he loved too much. People always ask: Did Ashfur deserve to go to StarClan?
Yes, he did. Honestly, people only think of him as the mad cat who only cared about ruining Squirrelflight, Brambleclaw, and their "kits" lives. But to be fair, he really was a good and loyal warrior who providede his clan with many seasons of loyal service. As Firestar once said:
"Loyalty is what matters, and that exists now, not in the past. Loyalty has to be proved every day, in every piece of fresh-kill brought back for the Clan, every claw mark on our enemies, every patrol, every training session."
That applies to everyone else, like Leopardstar when she joined Tigerclan and let Stonefur be murdered right before her eyes or Bluestar when she took a RiverClan mate. So, why shouldn't it apply to Ashfur? Exactly, it should apply to him. To quote one of my favorite books (Harry Potter XD):
"We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on."
Maybe I'm just saying this because I'm an optimistic person and and Ashfur fan, but he wasn't evil. Just overcome with love and jealousy.
